Gone Surfing

Well not exactly, but I have gone back to work, which if I were in Hawai'i, would be surfing. Unfortunately, we're not all blessed to live in paradise. However, it is nice getting back into the swing of things.

Work went by quickly this week, mainly because I was only there for two days, and also because our electronic charting system went down, and we're back on paper. Long story short, our work day is MUCH faster and we have less work to do. When you're getting back into the swing of things, it makes a much nicer week. :)

Tonight Ryan is at an "Oscars" party with his family. Everyone dressed up as a character from a movie. I however, had to stay home to catch up on homework for Midwest Bible College, and also getting a Bible reading plan together for a bunch of people at church. We're starting tomorrow, and brilliant me, I decided to tell everyone that I would take care of coming up with a Bible reading plan for anyone interested. Hmmm, I should get to that before everyone goes to bed. Alas, it should be a long evening. I'm looking forward to being productive however. Also, my former roommate is over just chillin, as I'm doing homework and she's working on getting my internet restored to what it should be.

Anyway, much to get done, and I'm looking forward to a snow filled week. I hope that it goes by as quickly as this past week. I've got an alumni soccer tournament at Marquette on Saturday, and hopefully my parents are going to be in town. I'm looking forward to that. Should be a great week.

the weekend

Well, the weekend is here, and it looks like we're in for a snow storm. I can hardly believe that this picture was taken just a week ago in Hawai'i. It is absolutely gorgeous there, and would recommend a trip to anyone. I've been having some computer difficulty, so I'll have to wait until I can figure that out before I post pictures of the Napoli coast.

Looking forward to getting some stuff cleaned up, finances figured out, and things put away. Thinking warm thoughts, and wishing the same for you.

a day late and a few dollars shorter...

Well, Ryan and I are back from Hawai'i, or should we say that we're visiting Milwaukee until all of our possessions can be sold and we can move out there. It is absolutely beautiful, and would recommend the trip to anyone. However, I wouldn't recommend OUR trip to everyone----find your own un-eventful way of getting there. :)
To make a long story short, (don't worry, I'll explain in detail later) we arrived at the Milwaukee airport on time, and that was the last thing that happened "on-time" for us. Picture #1 is after traveling for 19 hours straight, and then missing day number one of our cruise. It was a lot like being on the amazing race, and then missing the connection at the last minute. We did get on the boat the next day after a rather expensive flight to Hilo and night in a hotel that the airlines didn't foot the bill for because our delays/cancellations/luggage being lost/waiting for other flights and the people on them to get on our planes/brake problems were apparently ALL weather related and therefore not their fault. Anyway, picture number 2 does show the happy newly weds (the "young"est couple on the ship by probably 40 years) The last two pics are just fun shots. Young Brothers was a shipping company in Hawai'i that we saw a lot of, and the last picture is a night shot of lava hitting the ocean water at night. It was a stunning view, but not easily captured on camera. I do, however, have to through a HUGE thank you to Marni and Chris. We had a great time with the camera that you guys got us! What an amazing gift! We're hoping to get the pictures onto my computer today, and then have some better posts to show off our new camera to everyone. Thank you so much! We had a blast with the camera!

As my niece reminds me...

it is 3 days until the wedding, and aren't I "just soooooooo excited?!!" I am super excited. I woke up this morning to thirty tulips sent to me from Ryan. Then I headed out to Grand Haven to pick up the marriage license and was blessed to find that the roads were clearing. I got to hang out with my sister Ceci at the radio station which was really fun. Then I got to hang with my Roberts nieces and sister. Tonight should be more planning and finalizing details. It's been busy, but fun and I'm feeling productive.

Can't wait to see you on Friday Pleskos!!! It'll be good to see you too Ryan! Thanks for the flowers babe. You're amazing

H-town, here I come

I can't believe that Ryan and I are getting married in a couple of days. It's unbelievable! We're really excited, and a little nervous about everything coming together, but I'm sure that it'll be great. Ahh, the next post will be from Holland! See you soon

What's been cooking...

Here's a quick update of what's been cooking here in Milwaukee since the last time I blogged. It seems like it's been forever, and yet, I looked at the date, and it hasn't been THAAAAAAAAAAAT long. :)

Well,l I finally set up a computer for Ryan at our apartment. (Welll, not technically our apartment yet, but our upcoming apartment). I had an extra PC that Ceci and Dave had given me to finish out college with, and since I didn't have internet access, etc I hadn't used it in awhile. I needed a laptop for work to be able to work on presentations and to transport them, etc between locations easily, so I've found myself using that quite frequently. I had forgotten all about the compaq until Ryan began to complain about some of what he considered to be "quirks" on my lappy. Anyway, after a little clean-up and TLC the Compaq is up and running and Ryan has his very own computer!! YEEEEEEEEEEEAH! I can only wait to see the bloggin extraveganza that unfolds. Who knows, I might even be able to show him how to post pictures. Woohoo! :)

Work has been going well. It doesn't eem like much can faze me right now. I just realize that I've got less than a weeks worth of work left and then I get just over two weeks off for getting married and honeymoon. I can hardly wait. The last big project to get out of the way before that happens is a presentation that I have tomorrow about nutrition and tort law. I know, fascinating topics, and however do they relate? Don't worry, I'll figure something out.

The wedding plans seem to be coming together nicely. We finally got a prelim count out to my mom last night, and then we figured out how many to guestimate beyond that. Should be fun, and I'm looking forward to it. Did I mention that we're going to Hawaii? Goodness gravy I can't wait.

The superbowl is this sunday, and in typical fashion our church is having a Chili cookoff. Last year I was a judge to the competition and got to taste some fantastic, and not so fantastic chilis. This year the judging panel is a surprise, but I'm guessing that I'll sit it out due to the wedding plans and distractibility of my attention span lately. We'll see though...I am open to bribes. :)

Speaking of church, Ryan and I were just discussing how I'll be finishing up my bachelors in Biblical studies this June. I know, I know, who knew that I was even in school right now, right? But yes, it's true. I got my associates last year, and I'll have my bachelors in June. What I'm going to do with it is another question, but it may open up doors for me to do ministry in another setting in the future. Ryan and I have been talking about being missionaries in either Mexico or Senegal, but we'll see. Right now we're looking forward to Hawaii for some R and R (Ryan and Rebecca time that is.haha--cheeesy I know, but it had to be done)

Anyway, not much else going on that is blog worthy. My former roommate is coming over in a few and her, Ryan and I are headed off to a prayer meeting at church. We'll see what is in store afterwards, perhaps some custard from Culvers. Perhaps some gym time. Who knows, but I can guarantee that if I want to catch Chris in miles on the eliptical comparitively to his bike I better be elipticalling non-stop until the wedding! Seriously though Chris, I'm mightily impressed by your skills on the bike. 1000 miles in a month is absolutely incredible! Keep it up.
